Start with their own care plan
Ask your vet what the diagnosis means, which monitoring is needed and when to return. Kidney care depends on the individual pet and their test results.
Watch food, water and comfort
Record appetite, drinking, urination, vomiting and energy. Keep water freely available. A sudden change in drinking or urination needs veterinary advice.
Keep instructions close
Use only the diet, medicines and fluid instructions provided by your vet. Do not add supplements, change doses or give fluids without a care-team plan.
For your cat
A renal diet may be recommended for a cat with diagnosed kidney disease. Ask for help if your cat refuses it rather than letting them go without food.
